AI Turret (Blueprint edition)

AI-controlled turrets that detect, track and fire projectiles at enemies. The aim leads the target, so it accounts for the target's direction and velocity.

This edition is pure Blueprint: no C++, no Gameplay Ability System and no plugins beyond the engine defaults. It behaves like the C++ AI Turret plugin, and ships as an asset pack you add to any UE 5.7 project.

AI Turret Blueprint Edition

Key features

  • AI perception targeting: turrets see enemies, track them and return to their base position when they lose them.
  • Lead angle calculation: shots intercept a moving target (BFL_Turret.CalculateFiringSolution).
  • Teams: friend/foe detection with the engine's default team rule, through a Blueprint interface (BPI_TeamAgent).
  • Health and destruction: a health component, damage states (sparks, smoke, fire), damage numbers, a health bar, and a destroyed turret that breaks apart.
  • Multiplayer: health and death state replicate, and the effects show on every machine.
  • No project settings: no collision channels, no Config/ files, no plugins to enable.

What's included

  • Three turret skeletal meshes with Animation Blueprints for procedural aiming
  • BP_TurretPawn (dual barrel) and BP_TurretPawn2 (single barrel), with their AI controller and projectile
  • Niagara effects for muzzle flash, projectiles, damage states and the explosion; sound effects
  • The example map L_TurretExample with TeamPads and turret variants
  • Offline documentation in the pack: Content/AITurret/Documentation/QUICKSTART.md
